Dropped Balls & Big Calls is a podcast about the big moments that shape us.
Hosted by Jason Beardsley, it’s raw, honest conversations with people who’ve fallen, leapt, or hit rock bottom and come out the other side with lessons worth sharing. No filters. No PR spin. Just the truth about resilience, growth, and the messy middle of life.
Jason’s story is one of reinvention. Growing up in Christchurch, New Zealand, he was overweight, unsure of himself, and chasing a feeling he couldn’t name. Music and sport became escape routes, and by 21 he’d moved to Melbourne to chase the dream full time.
Life, of course, had other plans. He survived the Christchurch earthquakes, lost loved ones in tragic circumstances, walked away from music, and battled depression, regret, and the weight of feeling like he’d let it all slip through his fingers.
He rebuilt in Talent Acquisition and leadership, connecting people to work they love and purpose they care about. Fatherhood, marathon running, and raising money for Muscular Dystrophy Australia helped him reclaim parts of himself he thought were gone.
Dropped Balls & Big Calls was born from all of that: from the failures, the pivots, the rebuilds, and the moments that teach us more than success ever could. It’s about real stories from real people, and the courage it takes to keep going.
